Platform Policy

It is important to me that I maintain a sense of accountability when it comes to how I work and who I work with. This is why I have created a platform policy, in order to hold myself to account to ensure my digital spaces are being used to the best of their abilities.

I understand that I will not always get this perfect and I am always open to receiving reminders and constructive criticism in order to do better. Of course, not all work to do with intersectionality and anti-racism has to be outward-facing or acknowledged publicly, so, this does not include every step I am taking on a personal level.

Here are some of the actions I am taking going forward…

Amplification – I commit to using my online platform to regularly amplify relevant marginalised activists, artists, brands, creatives, educators and influencers.

Avoid centring – I will remember to decentre myself from climate conversations and start to avoid using language that refers to the Climate Crisis as something that affects ‘my future’, in order to recognise that this is a very real current problem for many in the Global South and in areas suffering from environmental racism.

This also includes avoiding speaking at events or on panels which do not have marginalised speakers on the line-up. I will also put forward names for relevant alternative speakers.

Collaboration – I will try my best to only work with brands that can show they are committed to anti-racism work as well as ethics, intersectionality and sustainability across the board.

Donations – When possible, I will donate 30% of all profits from my online store to relevant charities or organisations which are tackling climate and social injustices, especially those supporting marginalised communities. This will be clearly marked on my shop page, when I am able to do so.

Sharing – In order to share opportunities, I will recommend marginalised activists and influencers to brands and organisations which approach me for opportunities.

Transparency – I commit to being transparent around my own anti-racism and allyship work and calling myself out when necessary.
